A suspected bank robber who was caught on surveillance video dropping a bag of cash when a dye pack exploded and then returning to retrieve it was arrested Tuesday evening by federal marshals in the Virgin Islands, official said.
Kenneth Christian, 34, was arrested in St. Croix on charges of bank robbery, kidnapping and sexual battery. Deputy U.S. Marshal Bryon Carroll said Christian is from Gainesville but has an acquaintance in St. Croix.
Investigators went to the friend's house after getting information that Christian was there, Carroll said.
"They surrounded the house, and the fugitive walks out the back door. He surrendered," Carroll said.
Christian is accused of robbing the PNC bank at 1807 NW 13th St. on March 28. |
